Pradaxa ® (dabigatran etexilate) is a prescription medicine that is used to: reduce the risk of stroke and blood clots in adults who have a medical condition called atrial fibrillation that is not caused by a heart valve problem. Pradaxa is an anticoagulant (thrombin inhibitor) that helps prevent the formation of blood clots. (A class of drugs is a group of medications that work in a similar way.
